The KPI reports in DatAdvantage are based on the same report and template. DatAdvantage report 14c.
In the Reports section, browse to Category 14 – Trend reports, then expand Report “c. Trends in File System Statistics.” We want to start with a blank template, so expand the “Predefined” category, and click on report “1.Trends in File System Statistics.”
In the report builder panel to the right, you will see a blank report template. There are two mandatory fields already populated.
Depending on the scope of the report, you will want to adjust the “Date” section (default is 180 days).
If you plan to run the report more frequently, reduce the look-back period (e.g. to 30 days) by changing the “Date” field.
Next, we will want to select the file server(s) to include in the report. Click on the ellipsis button next to the blank “File server” box to bring up a browse menu. From the menu, place a check in the box next to the server(s) you want to include.
Note: If the “File server” option is not present, the report will default to run on all file servers. It is important to consider the scope. When dealing with an environment containing a large number of servers, reducing the included scope (or separating batches of servers into multiple reports) will prevent relevant deviations from getting lost in the noise.
The time period and file servers will appear in the filter window. Next choose what data to include.
From the top menu, click on the “Chart Data” tab. If there are any items populated in the right, click to highlight them, and select the left “<” arrow icon to remove them so we start with an empty template.
Voila! We now have a blank starting point for our KPI templates.
